The American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) organized by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) is one of the most influential math competitions for young students worldwide. More than 300,000 students from over 6,000 schools participate annually.
The AMC8 is mainly for middle and upper elementary school students below the 8th grade.
Due to its rigorous and challenging design, the AMC can objectively assess students' math abilities and identify talented individuals for the USA International Mathematical Olympiad team.
Exam Details
AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple-choice examination. Each correct answer is worth one point, and incorrect answers do not deduct any points.
The material covered on the AMC 8 includes topics from a typical middle school mathematics curriculum.
Topics include but are not limited to: counting and probability, estimation, proportional reasoning, elementary geometry.
Some questions may involve linear or quadratic functions and equations, coordinate geometry.

Awards: Perfect Score(25 marks), Honor Roll of Distinction(Top 1%), Honor Roll(Top 5%), Achievement Roll(Over 15 marks, elementary group).
The Junior Mathematical Challenge(JMC) is one of the major mathematical competitions organized by the The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust(UKMT). More than 700,000 students from The United Kingdom and more than 100000 students from other countries participate these competitions annually.
The JMC is mainly for middle and upper elementary school students below Year 8.
These series of competitions including JMC are also capable of selecting members of IMO team.
Exam Details
JMC is a 25-question, 60-minute, multiple-choice examination. Each correct answer is worth 5 points(for questions 1-15) or 6 points(for questions 16-25), and incorrect answers do not deduct any points.
The material covered on the JMC includes topics from a typical middle school mathematics curriculum.
Topics include but are not limited to: calculation, counting, geometry, word problems, number theory.

Awards: The top-scoring 50% of participants are awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates in the ratio 3:2:1. Students that are 'Best in Year' or 'Best in School' will also receive a badge to denote this on their certificates. Students not amongst the high scorers will receive a Certificate of Participation.
